BRENNAN PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES

Welcome! I’m Carolyn Brennan, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Atlanta, GA. I’m passionate about helping clients who have been struggling with anxiety, PTSD, and prenatal and postpartum symptoms.

Beginning with my training as a doctoral student nearly ten years ago, I’ve dedicated myself to providing therapy for anxiety disorders and PTSD.

For the past three years, I have also been specializing in perinatal mental health, helping clients navigate challenges such as pregnancy loss, difficult births, postpartum depression, as well as postpartum anxiety and OCD.

It brings me great joy to help clients overcome their symptoms and improve their lives.

How I Can Help You

Not sure if I’m the right fit for you? Here’s what you should know before getting started:

1. I’m a clinical psychologist who specializes in treating anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and postpartum symptoms. I combine evidence-based techniques with a warm, compassionate, and skills-focused approach.

2. Throughout our sessions, I will help you identify personal strengths, develop positive habits, and learn practical life skills. My mission is to guide you toward a life you value.

3. I will work with you, not only to overcome the challenges you’re facing now but to build on your skills and confidence to overcome any challenges that come your way.

My Therapeutic Style

My clients describe me as open-minded, warm, and solution-focused. I will work with you to develop the tools and confidence you need to navigate any challenging situations.

In my practice, I prioritize two approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — both supported by research as being effective in treating a range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD.

My Core Values

  • icon Social Justice

    Social Justice

I believe in having quality mental health care accessible to everyone. That's why I accept insurance, provide supervision at a low-cost mental health clinic, and collaborate with the Georgia Fund for Perinatal Mental Health.

  • icon Trauma-Informed Care

    Trauma-Informed Care

I meet trauma survivors where they are in their recovery process. We work together to explore the unique ways trauma is disrupting their lives and relationships and decide on a treatment plan that better fits their specific needs and circumstances.

  • icon Nonjudgmental Support

    Nonjudgmental Support

There is no right way to be a parent, a partner, a friend… a person. We all struggle at times and we all deserve support. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and strive to provide care that is culturally responsive and LGBTQIA+ affirming.

A Bit More About Me

I’m a mother of two and a business owner. In my free time, I enjoy getting outside with my dog Watson and spending time at the park, the zoo, or the museums around Atlanta with my kids.

In addition to providing therapy, I’m also a part-time instructor at Georgia State University, where I teach and supervise therapy for doctoral students in clinical psychology.
